Minutes of the Waco Eagles Motorcycle Club
September 30, 2008
President Jeff Gilbert called the monthly meeting to order at 7:00 pm with the Pledge of Alliance.
After the pledge Jeff announce that Shane Shorter had been hit by a train trying to beat the train and had his tail gate ripped off. Shane was ok however an employee of the railroad is going to come and speak at the club meeting to give members some guidelines and safety tips.
Ross Stovall, treasurer gave the treasure’s report:

These totals do not reflection a deposit from the MX race of $ 2,449.00 and $ 600.00 Membership that Jeanine has and also Jeff has some membership money also to deposit. Expenses for the month of Sept. were $ 2,623.24.
Minutes were read from the August Meeting by Petra McNamara, secretary and approved.
Under Old Business:
Petra asked the members for the final proof reading of the two trespassing signs which was approved and Petra said that she would order and deliver the signs to the track.
Glenn reminded members that Oct. 11th & Oct. 12th that the VDTRA National Half Mile races would be held at the track. Jeff said he would put the info on the answering machine and Glenn also said he would have a knobby class.
Wayne Coughran is in the process of painting the fence on the half mile. Glenn also announced there would be a work day for the half mile Sat. starting at 10:00 am.
Jeff said we need to talk about a date for Play Day and also nominations would be made at the Oct. meeting. Wayne brought up that an event pole would be nice for the flat track races instead of Glenn bringing out his personal generator and running the lights and races. Jeff said he would talk to the electric company. Jeff stated that the electricity at the track had 200 amp service and Jack & Diane were using microwaves. Hopefully an event poles could be installed and only charge the club when they were in use on race days. Also getting electricity to the top bathrooms would be nice.
Jeff told the club that the TVRC had run their races for the second time at the MX track this year they were very pleased and plan to come back. There were 46 entries and Waco Eagles did the scoring with each participant ran 2 or 3 motorcycles. The TVRC also fed the workers.
Jeff said they had a bonfire out at the track last weekend burning a lot of trash. Members also picked up tires and stacked them at the north end of the property pass turn one on the half mile track. Jeff said they are still having tires show up on the property he asked members not to dispose of their tires on the property.
New Business: Rick Denney reported the Johnny Newman one of the oldest members lost his wife and this past weekend and that a sympathy card and everyone sign it would be nice to send. Rick said he would get an address.
Jeff said that there was a street bike ride planned for the upcoming Sat. Oct. 4. All riders would meet Louis at the Valero on Hewitt Dr and I-35 at the 9:30 am and the ride should be over around 4:00 pm. tentative plans were to head to Austin thru Bertram.
Jeff has also been contacted by Derrick out of Dallas would like to have a pro rider wear a helmet camera and go around the MX track to film what our MX prep track looked like. Jeff also talked with Chester doing a series. Ross said that he was interested but his business was keeping him busy at present.
Discussion broke out about the have a Torque race at the track.
Jeff said the Play Day was tentatively scheduled for Sat the 3rd of December. Glenn asked that for safety factors members only ride the half mile to the left on play day and on specific race dates. A suggestion was also made to have a poker run on the play day. TJ suggested giving him a date and he would plan a non trophy buddy race to generate money for the club. Jeff said Nov. 23 the 4th Sunday could be a possibility. Jeff said that for play day Waco Motorsports would like to pick up the contingencies.
No further business Rick Denny made a motion to adjourned Jeff seconded meeting adjourned.
