Meeting called to order by President Jeff Gilbert at 7:10pm with the Pledge of Allegiance Hailey
Gilbert read the minutes of the previous months meeting along with a year to date treasury report including membership monies and was accepted by Tim Collier.
Current months treasury report was given by Ross Stovall and broken down by expenses, including a Kawaski Mule the club purchased and paid in full in the amount of $2000.. (Need amounts from Ross for minutes) Old Business: Motocross rider count for July motocross was one of the largest with new riders and gate count up.
DBO about new riders at the races in the points series program. There have been 25 individual quad racers entered in the past 6 months and over 45 have the most consistent rider show. Glenn put up the new signs at the front gate that state "Lock the gate or lose your membership". Curt fixed the starter on the big water truck and replaced the ground cable.
Tonia asked about the eta of the new scoring building with climate control. Johnson can get a discount on the concrete for the slab. DBO about new building and what would be needed.
Bathrooms- DBO about what would be needed and plans for a building New Business:
DBO about the need to block of the infield section of the motocross track on race day to keep big trailers, RV's and campers from parking in that area, blocking the view of the track. It was suggested that perhaps some T-posts and banners could be placed and perhaps a ditch being dug making in impassable for the "big rigs. Jeff suggested setting some 10" pipes in the ground and using those as an anchor for the banners. We have the pipe on the property.
DBO about an injury to Hailey's friend, Tack, whom had jumped the new triple several times but came up short the last time. DBO about trash barrels and handing out trash bags on race day. The Dumpster has been full more than usual and the possibility of getting a larger one.
DBO regarding the need for members to police locking the front gate. Jeff exercised article 6 of the Waco Eagles Motorcycle Club's Constitution, by appointing Curt Stevens to a position entitled "Waco Eagles Facility Director". His responsibility is to police the grounds, in the capacity of an officer for trespassers, and act on behalf of the club to take any appropriate action needed. This appointment will remain in effect for the rest of the calendar year at which time we will reevaluate the needs.
It was brought up that there will be an over 50 class at the next mx race. Cost will be $5 if it is a second class entry or $10 if the rider enters no other class. A plaque will be awarded to the top 3 riders in that class. Tom fixed the door on the flat track shed at the last mx race. Tim asked about rules on the starting gate of riders wanting to start off of the concrete pad and how much time is allowed for a mechanical hold up. Jeff said the WEMC Rules State that we will hold the race start for 3 minutes. The person running the starting gate is in charge a fair and uniform start. In the event of a rider not in compliance, that the starter has the authority to either not drop the gate or penalize the defiant racer by having him start backwards, behind another rider, or behind the telephone pole. DBO about whom has the "final say" on rules on race day. Jeff said the race director, which is currently Ron Sipe. If Ron is unavailable then Curt Stevens is the assistant race director and is also authorized to make that decision.
DBO about racers following rules. DBO about moving the poles on the ground behind the mx start gate against the concrete pad.
DBO about favoritism for certain riders, and what happened. Also what corrective should be taken? Jeff wants to make everyone happy with the outcome. It was stated that there were safety issues with that. Jeff stated that the riders involved were in the "premier class" and the rider in infraction was DQ'd but not black-flagged in order to give the spectators and exciting race to watch. Also that the skill of the riders in that class were far superior to the skills of the average rider making it less of a threat for safety. Nonetheless Jeff spoke with the rider after the races and asked him not to cut the track simply to put on a show. DBO about DQ's, track cutting, and not scoring.
Curt brought up the possibility of a MX-4 class for more advanced riders.
