Jeff Gilbert, President called the meeting to order at 7:01 with
the pledge of allegiance
Jeff announced that he had received an email from Petra asking everyone to show their support of our troops by wearing red on Fridays. He also said that Glenn and Petra could not attend because Glenn was still undergoing cancer treatment. Ross Stovall was unable to attend because he was at a T-ball game working the concession stand.

The following expenses were also discussed: $183 – Water Bill, $ 32 – Phone, $ 35 – Electric and then misc. expenses from the sound system not working. Jeff said he was there when it was last unplugged and everything was working fine. 11 speakers are out and Jeff spent $506 for 4 new speakers. At the last Motocross race the club spent $151.89 for fuel and for the new 2006-2007 locks $660.00 has been spent.
Jeff stated that he did not have any information from the last MX race because Paula & Mike were on a cruise.
Jeff asked Jeannine Davis to update us on memberships. Jeannine stated that since she had taken over memberships she has deposited $8,285 into the bank. We have had 28 new members since January 1, 2006, for 2007 we have 24 renewals, for a total of 90 current members.
Paula Haynes (arriving late) gave information on last MX race. They deposited $2,805.00 from the last race.
Jeff gave an update on Glenn. He had a good report, no spots on his liver and they are cutting his chemo dosage in half. Blood count is normal and he is still gaining weight.
Minutes from last meeting were read by the fill-in secretary Erin McNamara Crye and approved
Under old business:
Paula and Mike Haynes reported that they are not moving but would still like someone to take over the motocross. Paula gave Jeanine key to honor box.
Under new business:
Jeff announced that the Club purchased a new tractor for $33,000.00 the financing is not completely worked out. The loan process is awaiting one more thing to come through. Glenn is looking for covering for the club’s new tractor, right now it is being stored under the canopy. The tractor will be insured for $14 per month. The tractor has an attachment to rip the ground. It rips, cuts, and smoothes all in one pass. It will work on the flattrack too. Glenn would like to used it to help soak water into the flattrack.
Jeff commented that the MX track after last race looked good.
Grump asked if we had to put the land down against the tractor, Jeff said no and stated that the payments were around $600/mo. for 5 years. Grump suggested putting 1 year of payments into a savings account for a rainy day. Mike Haynes seconded. Motion carried. Jeff said he would talk to Ross about it.
Mike Haynes spoke with Parsons Roofing about a semi container to house the tractor.
Jeff would like to install an electric bypass on the tractor, to make the tractor more secure.
Curtis Stevens spoke about what they do at Wilsonart.
Jay King asked about tractor warranty and what kind of maintenance schedule it had. Jeff responded that the tracks need to be checked and the oil needs to be changed. Grump wanted to make sure we would not void the warranty by doing the maintenance ourselves. Jeff said we would not. Jeff will pick up a maintenance log. Jeff would like to keep the maintenance log in a filing cabinet.
Grump brought up the possibility of the highway coming through club land. Discussion broke out over this issue.
Paula Haynes asked if we could possible offer a free 50’s entry. Grump said we used to do that. Mike Haynes brought up that they have three classes of 50’s which means a lot of free trophies. Discussion continued.
Paula made motion to have 1 special FREE 50’s Sunday. Details to be worked out, possible August. Grump seconded the motion, motion passed.
Mike Haynes spoke to Skipper and they sold every semi trailer that they wanted to, so the club will continue to look for proper storage for the new tractor. Jay King said he would look too.
Jeannine asked if pre-staging could go on after the series was over. Mike Haynes suggested to keep it up and don’t park past the telephone pole. Jeff suggested we lay another telephone pole in the way. Mike agreed so so they can stage in the shade.
Discussion broke out about what to do about classes, now that the series is over. Jeff commented that we adopted Corsicana’s classes for the race series and until we get it worked out we would go back to our original classes. Discussion also continued on a way to reward winners besides trophies. Mr. Ficker suggested Eagle Bucks & Mike said he had thought of that. Jeff decided to table the issue until a later meeting.
Jeannine asked what the deal was with Paula and Mike not moving. Paula said they are not moving but still wanted someone to take over the MX.
Paula suggested 50’s get participant ribbons if they do not get a trophy. Jeff suggested Paula call Ross and see if he can get us some participant ribbons
Jeannine suggested the club ask for recycled trophies and make up a set of trophies to save the cost of new trophies. Jeanine and Brenda Poteet are going to be in charge of recycling trophies.
Brenda Poteet wanted to speak about 50’s class again. Discussion broke out about the definition of a beginner. Mike Haynes established that a beginner is a rider that has been riding one year or less.
Mike suggested that we post messages regarding our search for a trailer and our need for recycle trophies.
Paula asked that if we have 10 quads, should we split the class. Jeff suggested we ask the quads.
Jeff announced that the gate fee is back to $6.00 on race days.
Jeff reminded the club that October 7th was the VDTRA National race and that we needed 4 speakers.
Jeff announced that the red water truck needs to be fixed. It died, then turns over, but will not fire. It was commented that on the white truck Glenn had to replace the distributor to make it start.
It was stated that Hadley said he didn’t want much of nothing for his water truck because it isn’t worth much.
Jeff asked Mike if Hadley was going to move the tree. Hadley suggested moving
the curve and leaving the tree alone.

Jeff stated that we need to find someone to finish the fence. Mr. Davis knows a guy that will give us an estimate. Mike Haynes suggested coating the pipe with something that kills the rust and then we can paint it.
Mike Haynes made motion to adjourn and It was seconded. Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
