Under Old Business:
Glenn cancelled the upcoming out law races due to poor attendance. Glenn also asked if the club could schedule the benefit for Jay King when he was back in town to help.
The Jay King Benefit date is the 16th of June schedule for a buddies benefit race.
Under new business:
Danny asked about the club possibly purchasing a trailer for water with limbs and spray nozzles to wet down the track.
Jeff interjected that with the white track only one pass on the MX track with 1200 gallons. Glenn said that he wouldn’t need a water trailer for the flat track. Jeff said what takes time is the filling and if we could come up with a "dump" method of filling the trucks watering the tracks would could a whole lot faster. Jeff reported that some tracks have suspended tanks and the filling went very fast instead of the 17 or 18 minutes that it took to fill the trucks at present. Also brought up at this time Glenn brought up that driving the water trucks that granny & reverse are not synchronized. Please whoever is driving the trucks please crank them in 2nd and take your putting it in 2nd first before putting the truck in 1st gear would help save the transmissions. At this time it was also noted that the trucks at this present time getting it done.
Irrigation of the track was the next idea. Jeff said that the track didn’t have enough water pressure. Danny again brought up the possibility of having a demonstration on a water trailer. Discussion then broke about a possibility of purchasing a water tank or a fertilizer tank for use on the track. The trucks we have are still doing the job or if that Mack truck in OK was still available the club could check on pricing it again can hold up to 3,500 gallons of water at a time. Sonny spoke up at this time that if it is a Mack Truck a new rear could possible be as much as $ 6,000.00.
Discussion from the trucks went to needing more umbrellas’ for the scorer and the scoring tower needed to be fixed or tore down before someone got hurt.
Series Race Jeff reported for the transponders would be 10 to 15 thousand with a min. purchase of 100 transponders @ $ 89.00 each. Jeff also said the MX Software for scoring was $ 599.00.
Discussion then broke out about raising the entry fee and also the membership fee to $ 125.00 with 3 free vouchers for 3 races. Some stated that we would loose members and that we needed to discuss this further before renewal time next year. Jeff stated that the MX fees need to be raised. Glenn state something needs to be done because the cash flow is getting low. Jeff said we know we need to go up. Perhaps $ 8.00 on the gate and $ 20.00 for members and $ 25.00 for non-members entry fee?
Glenn made a motion that the race fees would be $ 20.00 per members and $ 25.00 per non-members. Gene Ficker 2nd the motion and motion carried.
Glenn also recommended arm bands that no one could sign up unless he or she had an arm band. That is what the flat track did.
Jeff spoke up at this time and said that he had bent the ladder on the white when he went in between two trees. Red truck is not running yet.
Jeff looked at the MX Track and it seems to be draining well except for the starting turn perhaps needs a couple loads of dirt on track.
Jay King Benefit Buddy Race was again brought up that it would be a 2 day event. Discussion broke out about only one day event for the benefit. Danny proposed making installments after the July and August after the races. Jeff interjected that the club has to survive also and we need to budget our money and that is not saying that the club wouldn’t fulfill what obligation it had already made to the benefit. Ross proposed lets wait and see what the money from the barbeque and buddy race brought it June 16th.
Glenn at this time spoke up that also of the flat trackers were asking if the club would consider giving $ 1.00 of the gate at the Nationals on October 13th to the widow of Larry DeAnda who died at the track in April at the Flat Track Nationals. Curt Stevens seconded and the motion carried.
Danny said that the club needs to keep the money for the regular schedule races and perhaps maybe a flat donation could be made. The club has already given a $ 1,000.00 to the King family. Jeff tabled the discussion at this time to see what the club is going to do for Jay’s Benefit.
Jeff stated at this time about changing the date of the regularly schedule meeting night to perhaps the 3rd Thursday day of the month The by-laws would have to be changed and we wouldn’t know if we could still meet at Poppa Rollo’s or a different place for that matter.
Meeting adjourned by motion of Jeff.
